Spot Light on "HaZ

HaZ got his first professional break performing at Carnegie Hall with KRS-ONE. Since then, this multi-talented MC has shared the stage with Roger Daltrey of the legendary rock band The Who, M1 of the revolutionary rap duo Dead Prez, and Sabac Red of critically-acclaimed underground rap group Non Phixion. Born and raised in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, HaZ perfected his lyricism in ciphers around his way.
 
While in high school, he was accepted into the CityKids Repertory Company (an award-winning youth performance program. His involvement in CityKids led to writing songs and jingles for television: Nickelodeon’s “The Big Help” Promos and ABC’s “Citykids” TV series in which he also starred) and radio spots for Sprite and Baccardi.
HaZ also worked as Director of Creative Labs with the Academy-nominated IMPACT Repertory Theatre (for their song “Raise It Up” from the WB’s “August Rush” soundtrack).The work he created with and for IMPACT has appeared at the United Nations, Lincoln center & The Apollo Theater. HaZ’s lyrics have also appeared on NBC, CBS, and in the HBO film, “Disappearing Acts”. A talented actor, writer and music producer; HaZ has written for TV, including a short film for Comedy Central with Oscar nominated writer/director/songwriter Jamal Joseph, FOX’s Ali: An American Hero & New York Undercover).
HaZ also co-produced a track with Mr. Joseph for the Tupac tribute album “The Rose That Grew From Concrete”, which featured an all-star roster including Russell Simmons, Quincy Jones, Mos Def, Q-Tip, and Geronimo Pratt. HaZ also played a supporting role in the independent film “Punching at the Sun” (an official selection of the 2006 Sundance & Tribeca Film Festivals).


HaZ is currently working on a Hip Hop Theater piece based on his life
